Burn victim dies from injuries

The SAPS are investigating a case of murder after Mthokozisi Sithole (31) died from his injuries on Sunday August 29.

The police received a report from Lydenburg Hospital that Sithole died at about 02:15.
According to the police, Sithole was admitted to the hospital with second and third-degree burns.
“The police were shown the body covered with a blanket when they arrived at the hospital. Sithole was certified dead and identified by his brother,” said Capt Kaizer Moela, Lydenburg SAPS communication officer.
Moela said a suspect (28) was arrested and detained at Lydenburg SAPS.
According to the police, Sithole and the suspect allegedly had an argument before the incident.
The suspect had visible injuries on the left side of his face and couldn’t explain to the police how he sustained these.
The suspect has not yet been charged and an investigation is pending.
