K9 Unit sniffs out dagga in bakkie stopped by police
Swift reaction by the Lydenburg K9 Unit led to the arrest of alleged drug dealers on Wednesday July 21.
Pat Mngomezulu (36) and Michael Molala (33) were arrested during an intelligence-driven operation in De Clerq Street, close to the Burgersfort Road intersection.
They were intercepted while allegedly transporting dagga in a Ford Ranger bakkie.
Seven bags of dagga were confiscated after the police ordered the vehicle to halt.

The bags weighed between 10,25 kilograms and 11,15 kilograms each. The suspects appeared in the Mashishing Magistrate’s Court on Thursday July 22.
The provincial police commissioner, Lt Gen Semakaleng Manamela, said she appreciated the efforts made by the SAPS members in their resilience to rid the communities of drugs.
“It is high time we claim back the streets from the hands of drug dealers and criminal elements. The call made by our good citizens to decisively deal with drugs in the community has been heard.
“We are acting with speed to close all the nets for trading in illegal drugs within the society. The public should continue to entrust us with valuable information as they can witness the positive results thereof,” said Manamela.
