Community comes together with prayer on the menu

Before President Cyril Ramaphosa had announced the country's move to adjusted lockdown level 3, locals came together in prayer in the parking lot at Abeega Roadhouse.

Pr Hannelie Hodgkinson of Lewende Woord Met Passie and Rev Nonhlanhla Nxumalo of the Methodist Church led the hour-long evening of song and prayer.

The evening took place in a mixture of Afrikaans and English, and every “amen” was echoed by a chorus of hooting from the parking lot.

Together, Hodgkinson, Nxumalo and the occupants in the vehicles prayed for the country to be lifted out of its recent rut and for all to be healed.

The evening was Luna Grant’s idea and she said she was most definitely happy with the way it had turned out. “It was awesome!”

Organisers said this was not a one-time event, and that the public should keep an eye out for the next one. The tentative date is August 8, but more details will follow.
