Residents denied entry to White River licensing department

The White River licensing department is denying entry to people collecting their licenses.

White River residents attempting to collect their driver’s licenses were shocked to find themselves being refused entry to the White River licensing department.

Employees said the security of the building had lapsed and they did not feel safe admitting people in.

Lowvelder’s multiple attempts to contact the licensing department and the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport went unanswered.

DA MPL Trudie Grové-Morgan, also the party’s spokesperson for community safety, security and liaison, said she too had been contacted by residents regarding the situation and was trying to address it.

Ironically, this comes after the provincial Legislature voted in March to extend the operating hours of the White River licensing department in order for residents to be better serviced and avoid long queues.
