The cyclone’s eye hit the city of Beira at dawn and the damage is minimal.
 
Trees and buildings of precarious construction gave in to the pressure of the wind that had no comparison with Cyclone Idai in 2019.
 
The winds were expected to reach a speed between 140 and 160 kilometres per hour, according to meteorological indications. But they were far below 120 kilometres per hour.
 
So far there have been no reports of deaths. It continues to rain heavily.
 
In communications, only Movitel is active and only in only a few areas.
 
Vodacom and state-owned company Tmcel are down.
 
The city is in darkness because EDM shut down the Munhava substation for fear that it would be hit by the waters.
 
A considerable part of trade is closed.
