IN PHOTOS: KNP animals lap up first summer rain

Komatipoort resident, Danny Bruwer was there to capture this rather unusual sighting.

After much anticipation, the heavens finally started to open up on Thursday, marking the first proper showers of the season.

As much as it came as a relief to Lowvelders, animals in the Kruger National Park also seem to have missed it. Danny Bruwer from Komatipoort can attest to that.

He said he entered the KNP at the Crocodile Bridge Gate, when on his way to exit the same way, he came across a rather unusual sighting.

“After a drive on the S28 to Lower Sabie, we returned on the H4-2 on our way out of the park,” Bruwer said, added that he was brought to a halt by a variety of animals drinking water off the road.
