After a fire broke out in Letaba Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park (KNP) on Wednesday evening, the park kept the public up to date on the situation with a series of tweets from its Twitter account.
The series of event were relayed as follows:
- “KNP is sad to announce that a massive fire broke out in the Letaba shop late on Wednesday evening. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage. Staff and emergency personnel are busy trying to bring the fire under control.
- “Firefighting teams from Olifants and Phalaborwa have been activated. No injuries have been reported. Updates will follow
- “The fire is under control and no one has been injured. We are uncertain of the cause at this point. We will keep updating as new information comes to light.”

Lastly, the park sent the following message out this morning.
“This morning guests and staff are waking up to a horrible sight of the burned TV room and shop at Letaba Rest Camp. The fire was finally brought under control this morning without any casualties. Well done to all involved. Investigations into the cause of the fire have commenced.”
