Barberton SAPS closes after officer tests positive for Covid-19

The Barberton police station has been temporarily closed after a female police officer tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brig Leonard Hlathi, the officer reported for duty on Tuesday and was taken to hospital for testing after she displayed symptoms of the virus. The results were received earlier today and she has already been quarantined.

The Barberton station will be sanitised and will open again on Sunday. In the meantime, community members can visit the park homes next to the station should they require the police’s assistance. Alternatively, residents can call 082-923-1593.
