WATCH: World Ranger Day commemorated at Kruger National Park

South Africa joined countries around the world today by commemorating World Ranger Day at the Kruger National Park.

The minister of environment, forestry and fisheries, Ms Barbara Creecy, led the commemoration at the Ranger Memorial at the Kruger Gate.

The minister was joined by the chief executive of SANParks, Mr Fundisile Mketeni, senior members of SANParks management and traditional leaders at the wreath-laying ceremony and formal commemoration.

World Ranger Day commemorates rangers killed or injured in the line of duty.  It also highlights the work game and field rangers do to protect the world’s natural and cultural treasures.
