KwaMhlanga cluster wins national unit award at Tracker-SAPS ceremony
The event recognized the individual and unit winners from all nine provinces.
MBOMBELA – The Tracker-SAPS Awards took place at the Diep in Die Berg Conference Centre in Pretoria on October 6.
An annual event, the awards seek to honor officers of the law and their units whose efforts, in the use of the Tracker system, have made a significant impact on the recovery of stolen and hijacked vehicles in South Africa.

The overall SAPS national unit award went to Gen CT Sithole, from the KwaMhlanga cluster. Their combined efforts with Tracker lead to the recovery of more than 35 vehicles and the arrests of a number of suspects.

In his address to guests, Tracker’s executive for operational services Ron Knott-Craig said,
“The deepest and often most unfulfilled need is our need to be appreciated, to receive recognition for the value that we add. We deeply appreciate all individuals and units of the SAPS for the work that they do to make South Africa a safer place for all its people.”
The keynote address was given by the acting national commissioner of the SAPS, Lt Gen Mothiba, on behalf of the minister of police Fikile Mbalula.

Mothiba closed the ceremony by speaking about the valuable nature of the partnership between Tracker and the SAPS, “This partnership has grown from strength to strength over the past 21 years, and the sky is the limit when it comes to our relationship.”
