ALKMAAR – A man in his 40s, travelling in the direction of Mbombela, narrowly escaped death after he hit a hippo with his vehicle on the N4 last night.
He was taken to Rob Ferreira Hospital by Netcare paramedics’, Herman Geyer and Comfort Maseko, to be treated for minor injuries.

According to ER24 advanced life support medic, Kim Habib, the hippo was nowhere to be seen.
Mr Louw Steyn of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, said that the hippo was apparently spotted near Kwanyoni Lodge this morning. “The MTPA will head out to the area to investigate,” Steyn said.
