BREAKING NEWS: Nelspruit’s Soccerball is no more!

It is with great sadness that Lowvelder has to report that the Nelspruit reservoir has been knocked down this morning.

Mbombelans awoke with a shock this morning to discover that the beloved water reservoir, or better known as the Soccer Ball, which is an iconic landmark in the city, has been demolished.

The City of Mbombela Local Municipality decided that, in conjunction with the new cabinet reshuffle, it would also like to make a few changes and start honouring local political figures.

Rumours are circulating that a new nine-metre-tall statue of one of Mpumalanga’s prominent government officials will now gaze over the Lowveld.

It has been reported that the construction of the statue is estimated to start in June and is scheduled to be completed by December.

Lowvelder attempted to contact the spokesman for the municipality, but to no avail as he is currently away on business.
