Help the SPCA and break a record

The challenge kicked off on Tuesday and we only have until December 8, 12:00 to partake in this massive challenge to beat the current world record of 15,5 tons

MBOMBELA – Come on! Be part of the attempt to break a Guinness World Record by collecting 16 tons of pet food in aid of Nelspruit SPCA.

The challenge kicked off on Tuesday and we only have until December 8, 12:00 to partake in this massive challenge to beat the current world record of 15,5 tons.

All you need to do, is leave pet food at the various collection points, which include Afgri, Casterbridge Vet Shop, Catbox, Central Vet, Checkers Riverside, EyeCare Boutique, I’langa Petworx, Midfeeds, Ons Hoofkantoor Pub, Pick n Pay, Pick n Pay Riverside, Pick n Pay White River, Riverside Nailed in Ink, The Grove SUPERSPAR, Crossing SUPERSPAR, Orchards SPAR, Sonpark SPAR, Steiltes SPAR, Tarentaal SPAR, The Village SPAR, Steiltes Vet Shop, Supreme Dog Food, Van Wijk Street Animal Hospital, Wendy Lane Montego and White River Animal Hospital.

Louie Amorim, chairman of the Lowveld SPCA, says any variant of pet food is acceptable, but donors should take into consideration that canned food has a longer shelf life. Cat food is always in short supply.

The SPCA always sees an influx of animals during the festive season as many people go on holiday and their pets get lost. It’s also a time when more people relocate to other cities in search of better employment and some do not hesitate to leave their animals behind.

Unlike other pet-adoption agencies, the SPCA is not allowed to turn away any animals. Do your part for them this December by donating pet food to our four-legged friends in need.

Many of these collection points are situated at shopping centres, making it even more convenient by simply loading pet food in your trolley and leaving it in the clearly marked boxes of which the contents will be given to the SPCA.

Enquiries: Louie Amorim on 079-521-6145.
