A love of animals opens many doors for sanctuary

Within mere weeks their dedication paid off and they celebrated the completion of phase one - a brand-new electric fence around the premises.

MBOMBELA – Madelaine Rosslee, Alicia Rautenbach, Suzanne Wilson and Ulrike Matthysen might seem ordinary, but these four women have one special thing in common – an unconditional and extraordinary love of rescued animals.

And according to them, it is just that which made them click from the very start.
Realising the need to expand the premises of the Pro-Life Pet Rescue sanctuary, these volunteers immediately put their heads together and developed a proposal.

Within mere weeks their dedication paid off and they celebrated the completion of phase one – a brand-new electric fence around the premises.

But they say this is only the beginning. They plan various new improvements, including more than 30 3×10-metre kennels, one large cat enclosure, a kitten camp and one for Aids-infected cats as well as four puppy camps, a water park, play area and an obstacle course.

“We are also looking forward to keeping four of the original kennels which will be painted and used as a doll house for the kids and dogs to run and play in,” they explained.

According to their they also look forward to paving the parking lot and planting trees along the entrance to complete the picture. Although this might sound like a daunting task to many, they are determined to make a difference and add quality of life to the four-legged friends who live at the sanctuary.

“People should know that nothing will stop us and that we will be done the day that each animal has a safe and dry kennel to sleep in,” the four concluded.

Should individuals or businesses want to join them on their journey, they can contribute in the following ways:
• Option A – Sponsor a complete kennel for R6 500
• Option B – Sponsor kennel material for R4 500
• Option C – Sponsor kennel fencing for R2 000.
The above costs excludes labour and painting.

The public can also sponsor the following materials:
• Cement
• Stock bricks
• Stone
• Sand
• Pine wood 76 millimetres x 38 millimetres (three metres)
• IRB roof sheets
• Paint
• Labour
• TLB for digging foundations.
