Workshop to focus on inclusive tourism-business practices

"Tourism businesses, like any other businesses in South Africa and the world, should be moving toward inclusive activities and benefit sharing."

MBOMBELA – The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) in cooperation with the German International Cooperation (GIZ) will soon host its first workshop that will focus on inclusive business practices, corporate social responsibility and good governance issues.

According to the KLCBT these seminars form part of their new integrity initiative which aims to support small and medium enterprises (SMMEs) to identify practical ways to implement these strategies. “Tourism businesses, like any other businesses in South Africa and the world, should be moving toward inclusive activities and benefit sharing. Shareholders should no longer be the single beneficiaries of our tourism businesses, but we need to include other stakeholders in a way that benefits all,” Ms Lisa Sheard, director of tourism KLCBT, said.

She furthermore added that the KLCBT was committed to assist all businesses in the Ehlanzeni region, not to only comply with the legislative and other standards for good corporate governance, but also to offer workable and affordable solutions.

During this two-hour workshop with Ms Rebecca Szrama, head of the GIZ responsible and inclusive business hub, attendees will therefore be supported in identifying practical ways to overcome their inclusive business hurdles.
