LIMPOPO – “It’s not about what the title can do for me but rather what I can do for the title,” said beautiful Miss Limpopo 2014, Kholofelo Lekganyane in a recent interview.

Perseverance is one of her many positive attributes as she entered the Miss Limpopo 2014 pageant for a second time after failing to secure a title in 2013. Kholofelo believes she has what it takes to be a great ambassador and a role model for the youth of the province, “Last year was not my year. I was not the girl the judges were looking for. I first had to show them what I am made of,” she said.

This beauty queen proved to be caring after impressing the judges with her many community projects. One of these entailed serving a hospice in Polokwane called Mogaung. “Through my involvement I changed and touched people’s lives, which was the most important thing the judges were looking for,” she said.

Other projects entailed working with Hlahlaganya Drop and Mamahlola Day-care Centre where she gathered and donated goods. Kholofelo also went the extra mile when she secured sponsors for different equipment and uniforms which was donated.

This young girl believes nothing is impossible when you truly want to succeed. Kholofelo not only dreams of becoming the next Miss South Africa but also takes her education seriously as she is working towards becoming a post graduate student in psychology at the University of Limpopo.

Steelburger/Lydenburg news asked her what advice she would give a girl who dreams of following in her footsteps. “She has to believe in her capabilities and her dreams. But she should be aware that being Miss Limpopo is not all about the glitz and glamour of wearing beautiful dresses and attending fancy functions. I have a great responsibility towards people and I have to at least try my best to make a difference. You must be the change that you wish to see in the world,” she explained.

Kholofelo finished the conversation by adding that her new year’s resolution is to keep fit and healthy by exercising a lot. “I want to eat healthy foods and I want to cut down on the junk food,” she laughed.
