BURGERSFORT – “Loving, caring and talkative,” are the words Miss Tubatse 2014, Kgaogelo Malapji used to describe herself in a recent telephone interview with Steelburger/Lydenburg news.

A truth lies behind these words as she has been actively involved in charity work for the last couple of years and plans to continue her projects with the help of Miss Limpopo 2013, Sheila Mmutle. “Our main project entails conducting a spelling-bee competition for primary school pupils in Tubatse. Our brothers and sisters are not exposed to reading. With this competition we hope to encourage them to read more which will help them develop an improved vocabulary and at the same time provide them with a good education.”

The two beauty queens hope to accomplish their dreams for the projects by involving local businesses and the youth.

Kgaogelo is not only beautiful and caring but also smart as she spends her days in Polokwane at the University of Limpopo as a third-year accounting science student. “One of my biggest dreams is to have a successful career as a registered auditor after I graduate next year,” says Kgaogelo.

After she was born in Lydenburg hospital, Kgaogelo grew up in the small village of Riba Cross spending her days surrounded with the beautiful nature the Lowveld offers. She was raised by her mother Nelly, a teacher at Riba Primary School and her father, Johannes a local boilermaker. “I visit my family quite often by spending weekends and school holidays back home. I miss my parents and siblings already but I can’t go home now because my books are calling,” she laughs.

Kgaogelo also hopes to design and sell her own shoe line in the near future although she has no design experience yet. “A person has to dream big. I promise to bring you a pair one day,” she vows.

This beauty queen also managed to secure five other titles in the last couple of years. These include Miss Bokamoso 2014 and first princess of the University of Limpopo. “My biggest dream, however, is to be crowned Miss World and I will also compete for the Miss Limpopo title after I graduate,” says Kgaogelo.
