Due to a veld fire, a Delta Power Station transformer on the KaNyamazane road blew today, July 19.
It is unclear what caused the fire, however, firefighters are currently on the scene to extinguish it. Not only is Mbombela affected, but Barberton, White River and Malelani too.
According to the City of Mbombela, this has left the City without power in almost 90% of its electricity network.

Eskom is waiting for the fire to be contained before starting work on restoring the power.
It is unclear how long it will take for the power to be restored.
“The power will be off for a while,” said the City.
