Puppies stolen in Barberton burglary

The puppies’ owners fear they may be sold or end up in the dog fighting industry if they are not found soon.

A Barberton man is heartbroken as his and his housemate’s two puppies were allegedly taken in a house burglary on Wednesday, September 11.

Arno Coetzee has made a heartfelt plea for anyone who might come across these two eight-week-old Staffordshire bull terrier puppies, Arra and Kaia, to contact him. He fears their captors may try to sell them.

The SA Bush-Warrior Association’s Jaco Klopper said dog thefts are a major problem in the area.

He said with Arra and Kaia being a male and female pair, they might also be attractive to keep as a breeding pair, as that would secure longer-term income.

Alternatively they could also end up in the dog fighting industry.

It is understood the burglary took place during the day while Coetzee was at work. Also taken during the burglary was a Samsung TV and an Xbox Series S gaming console.

A case was opened with the Barberton SAPS, however, Coetzee said he was a lot more concerned about the two puppies than the expensive electronics.

Anyone with information about the puppies’ whereabouts is urged to call Coetzee on 060 975 6003.
