Dentist consulting spreads oral health awareness in Lydenburg

Dentist advices that prevention triumphs over cure in oral health.

September is Oral Health Month, and the Dr ME Matlakala Inc. reached out to two schools to teach learners more about their oral health.

They went a step further during their visits to Lesodi Primary School on September 5 and Laerskool Lydenburg on September 12.

After the examinations, the girls received a Barbie-themed toothbrush and toothpaste, and the boys received Batman-themed ones. At Lesodi, the team examined 167 learners and sent them home to their parents with a letter of recommendations.

“Oral Health Month is a great time to educate children about their oral health. Prevention is better than a cure. Children need to learn from a young age how to take care of their teeth. The examinations were done by Mokgethi Mahlo and Thabiso Sebaka, our oral hygienists,” said Tshego Matlakala, the director and clinic manager.

She said it’s never too late to care for your teeth, although prevention always triumphs over cure.
