Mbombela Unite, a fresh new event

A pop-up music and art event, Mbombela Unite, was recently held for the first time. People from across the city gathered to enjoy a diverse range of both music and art.

It was a true show of unity and coming together through music and art at the Mbombela Unite event held at 420MP in Valencia Industrial on Saturday evening, September 23.

A pop-up music and art event, the aim, according to Mbombela Unite’s co-founder, Stacey Engelbrecht, was to unite people through both diverse music and art.
The evening saw an electrifying line-up of local musicians and DJs, including Big C, Matthew Gold, Bush Techno, Tango Supreme, Dr Oz, DJ Sirelo, Cush, DJ Geenger and Household Funk, showcasing a variety of music genres.

In an area separate from where the stage was situated, two artists, Hannes Strydom and Shania Koortzen, set up their work, allowing people to buy and chat to them about their pieces.

Next to the stage, however, was an exciting live illustration by Matthew Koster, titled ‘Lazy River’. People were able to watch his painting progress throughout the night, right in front of their eyes.

The event was well supported and saw everyone enjoying themselves and dancing the night away.
