Hard boxing and sportsmanship unite in Mbombela

Ehlanzeni, Gert Sibande and Nkangala's best pewee, junior and cadet boxers were put to the test during the 2023 Mpumalanga Boxing Championships.

Mustangs – The Dancing Place played host to the thrilling 2023 Mpumalanga Peewee, Cadet and Junior Boxing Championships on August 26.

The event brought together young boxers from the Ehlanzeni, Gert Sibande and Nkangala districts, showcasing their skills and determination in the ring.

The championships provided a platform for these budding athletes to demonstrate their boxing prowess and compete against their peers.

The championships featured various weight divisions, ensuring fair competition and allowing boxers of similar size and strength to face off against each other. A total of 71 boxers stepped into the ring.

”The event went very well,” Nelspruit Boxing Club’s Lawrence Baird said following the event. ”All the participants behaved as well, but it was touch and go,” he jokingly added.

Throughout the event, it was clear that not only did these young boxers possess incredible talent, but they also showed great sportsmanship and respect for their opponents. They entered the ring with a mutual understanding of the challenges they would face, and once the matches were over, they embraced each other in recognition of their efforts.

The Mpumalanga Peewee, Cadet and Junior Boxing Championships were a testament to the dedication and skill of the young boxers in the region.

As the championships came to a close, the winners were honoured and celebrated for their outstanding performances.
