North Wester wins 2023 Mbombela Open title

This year's tournament saw golfers from all over vie for the title.

Forty-two golfers from golf clubs all over Mpumalanga, and even some from visiting provinces, took to the greens of Mbombela Golf Club on Sunday August 6 to compete for the sought-after Mbombela Open title.

The tournament took on a medal play or stroke play format, which is arguably the harshest and most unforgiving method of scoring of them all. Although this might be the case, the golfers teed off in high spirits, looking forward to a good day of golf ahead.

Rory Garton, who plays most of his golf at Magaliespark Country Club near Hartbeespoort, walked away with the Mbombela Open title. Garton managed a gross score of 146. He was awarded with 72 points after a great first 18 holes of golf and stayed consistent with 74 points following the second round.
