Young Tubatse farmer excel in poultry and crop farming

Young people in Tubatse are soaring to great heights in the agriculture industry.

Edward Tshepo Makofane (28), from Ga-Makofane Village in Tareaneng, launched Jeffrey Poultry Farming in 2018.

He graduated in business management from Pearson College in Mbombela and envisioned success in poultry and crop farming. His business has grown from strength to strength over the years.

“I specialise in point-of-lay and broilers. I also do orange farming and vegetables. Farming has a high unemployment rate, and I wanted to inspire the youth to start their own businesses. My father, Jeffrey “Liter” Makofane, is also a businessman, and he taught me the importance of entrepreneurship and providing work opportunities for the community,” said Makofane.

The farm sells eggs, oranges, bananas, veggies, and chicken at affordable prices. He is assisted on the farm by two relatives, Kgotlelelo and David Makofane.

The Limpopo Agriculture Department mentors young farmers like Makofane and supports them with advice. He can be contacted at 079 539 4704 or makofanetshepo1@gmail.com.
