Casterbridge market a treat for all

The market at Casterbridge was well supported by Lowvelders who enjoyed a host of tasty foods and unique products crafted by local entrepreneurs.

It was a beautiful day filled with delicious food and locally crafted items for Lowvelders at the Casterbridge market on Sunday, June 4.

Scores of people came together at the Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre in support of local artisans selling everything from home-made soaps, spices, sweet treats and savoury snacks to hand-painted jackets, leather handbags and quirky jewellery.

The Casterbridge Development Academy’s marimba band was also present, and welcomed guests and would-be buyers in the parking lot with their music.

The market’s organiser, Peta de Wet, said the day had an incredible turn-out and support from Lowvelders. “Many of the traders did exceptionally well. Some food vendors had sold out just before 12:00.”

She said it was a wonderful day overall.
