A gruesome accident claimed the life of a woman on the R40 on Wednesday morning, May 31.
The woman is said to have attempted to cross the road near the University of Mpumalanga when a truck, travelling towards Mbombela, hit her.
Emer-G-Med received the report of the accident at 07:37 and, upon arrival, described the scene as one of the worst it had ever seen.

Motorists passing by the scene said it had left them traumatised as one said the pedestrian ‘got torn into pieces’.
The woman’s identity is still unknown as she did not have identification among her belongings.
Traffic was affected for some time during the morning, but the scene has since been cleared.
