Thanks to the swift actions of a Mbombela resident, he and another victim escaped an armed robbery at their home in Belladonna Street that almost turned into an abduction.
According to Callum mac Pherson of Securicon, three suspects were involved in the incident on March 8 just after 22:00. They were lying in wait when the victims arrived home.
Mac Pherson said the victims were tied up. The suspects essentially tried to kidnap them when they attempted to steal their Toyota Hilux.

“Thanks to brave actions of the vehicle owner, the suspects did not succeed.” The resident managed to disrupt the suspects enough that they lost control of the vehicle.
The victims escaped the incident with minor injuries. Unfortunately, two of the three suspects escaped.
Mac Pherson warned that the targeting of 4×4 vehicles in the area could continue.
“Please be extra vigilant, as these syndicates will target any neighborhood.”
