Locals experience Portuguese flavour at Church Unlimited

The event was held on Friday night, October 21, and celebrated the Portuguese heritage of the Lowveld region.

To celebrate the unique Portuguese and Mozambican culture of the Lowveld, Church Unlimited had its first Portuguese evening on Friday.

Patrons were treated to live music by Soul Taxi SA, which played a variety of Portuguese and Spanish songs that livened up the summer’s evening.

A delicious selection of food was on sale. Dishes included espatada, spicy chicken wings, Brazilian pastels (pastries), pao de queijo (cheese rolls) and a variety of sweet stuff, including the famous pasteis de nata.

The organisers hope to make this an annual event that will grow in stature.
