Over 60 units of blood collected at Bleedathon in Mbombela

Local businesses and organisations competed with one another to see who could get the most amount of people to donate blood. Provincial Mpumalanga MS was the winner of the day.

Over 60 units of blood were drawn in aid of the Bleedathon held at the Eagle’s View Play Park on Sunday September 11.

While the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) set up their tents and stretchers, ready to accept the donors for the day, several locals set up their food and crafts stalls.

Several local businesses and organisations did their part to support the Bleedathon by competing against one another to win the title of the company who gathered the most donors.

People were able to support this good cause by donating blood, while also helping small businesses by purchasing the delicious pancakes, dried fruits, doughnuts and even handmade resin crafts, handbags and pillows on sale.

“Divergent Ops and Mpumalanga Provincial MS were the stars of the day and they challenged each other right to the end,” said Van Zyl.
