Easter fun day puts smiles on Dasha children’s faces

The Easter fun day was held at the Dasha Foundation premises on April 23.

The Dasha Foundation hosted its Easter fun day with sweet treats and chocolatey surprises for all the children in attendance on Saturday morning,
April 23.

Starting the fun and games at 09:00 at the Dasha Foundations premises, the Easter fun day was also held in conjunction with April being Autism Awareness Month.

Dasha Foundation level one teacher, Natasha du Venage, said that the school had a few learners with autism as well as several pupils with dyslexia.  “This is just a fun day for everyone to enjoy. The kids made some lucky packets and popcorn,” she said.

Children were also treated to a jumping castle, face painting and a lucky draw where they won lucky packets, bunny bags filled with sweets and whole boxes filled with marshmallow Easter eggs.

Pancakes, colourful candy floss, cupcakes and coffee were also on sale. Dasha Foundation hosted a workshop at which pupils over the age of 18 made and sold various arts and crafts.

Du Venage said the shop is always open to the public and that potential clients can commission arts and other items like table clothes, cushion covers, beaded necklaces, beautifully sewn bags and clay sculptures.

The Dasha Foundation, which is situated at 8 De Kock Street, relies on donations and fundraising as well as government subsidies.
