JJ Peters will reappear in court on April 25

JJ Peters, who abandoned his bail application, will reappear in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on April 25.

JJ Peters is accused of murdering his grandmother, Sannie Strydom Kilmister (68), on February 28.

According to the provincial spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Monica Nyuswa, Peters had abandoned his bail application on March 16, and he was remanded in custody for further investigation.

“During his first appearance in court on March 2, Peters elected to conduct his own defence. In his second appearance on March 10, he changed his mind and elected to use the services of Legal Aid South Africa. The court will ask him whether he will plead guilty or not during his trial,” she said.

Kilmister was allegedly strangled by Peters, who had been sharing her house on a smallholding in the Cromdale area. She was found dead in her bedroom with various bruise marks on her neck and splashes of blood were found on her pillow.
