During his third court appearance for an official bail application, Peters’ Legal Aid South Africa defence lawyer told the magistrate that he had decided to abandon his application.

His case was postponed to April 25 for further investigation and he will remain in police custody. It is unclear why he decided to abandon it.

Kilmister was allegedly strangled by Peters, who had been sharing her house on a smallholding in the Cromdale area. She was found dead in her bedroom with various bruise marks on her neck and splashes of blood were found on her pillow. During his first court appearance, Peters wanted to defend himself, and the case was postponed to March 10 for the official bail hearing. He changed his mind and decided to appoint Legal Aid South Africa to represent him.
