Thea Rix awarded Community Warrior of the Year at prestigious event in Mbombela

This was announced on Thursday at the SACBW monthly networking sessions which was held at Kingfisher's Country Kitchen and Traditional Smokehouse.

Thea Rix has been awarded the Community Warrior of the Year Award by the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) Nelspruit.

A warrior woman of the year can be a person who is not the member of SACBW who demonstrates through involvement in the community in which she is making an impact. The council gives various awards every year to appreciate and honour women that are making an impact in their communities.

Rix is known as the person behind the Facebook group, Mbombela Electricity, Water Roads and And Service Delivery Information, where she shares information about the city and surrounding areas’ service delivery. The group has over 20 000 members. She recently announced that she wants to run for ward councillor for the DA in this year’s municipal election.

In her speech she said, “The fact that I am a woman already makes me a warrior; women are warriors. I am known for the work I do on the electricity and water Facebook page, although I am a person who loves working with local charities. I believe in charity work and as an unemployed woman I do charity,” she said.
