Fire between White River and Sabie has been contained

The fire was first reported at 13:30 on Tuesday and was contained by this afternoon.

A fire that has been raging since Tuesday afternoon between White River and Sabie has now been contained.

Lowveld and Escarpment Fire Protection Association (Lefpa) manager, Andre Scheepers, said that although the fire was still burning, it had been contained to an area and was not spreading.

According to a notice by Lefpa, the fire is in an area where there is lots of vegetation and timber.

The fire is being monitored closely. He said the fire danger index is currently in the high orange and has urged the public not to start any fires out in the open, to remain vigilant and to report any fires they may see. You can report fires to Lefpa on 0860 663 473.
