MEC Majuba continues school raids

Mpumalanga MEC for education, Bonakele Majuba said he was disturbed by the way learners conduct themselves in schools.

MBOMBELA – He made an appeal to parents to work with the department to make schools safe havens.

Majuba said this after he conducted a search and seizure at Botleng Secondary School at Victor Khanyi Local Municipality, together with the SAPS .

Dagga, knives, cigarettes, cellphones, matchboxes, fighting paraphernalia were confiscated during the raid.

“Judging by the illegal material that is trafficked into schools it is becoming clear that we need to intensify the efforts to work collaboratively with parents and communities to make schools safe. No one must fold arms when our schools get compromised. It is in our hands,” said Majuba
