NOTICE: Ten-hour power cut planned for Mbombela

Boil your kettles early and get the braai fires started because on June 9, the majority of Mbombela could be without power for 10 hours.

In a recent statement, the Department of Energy said electricity in the central region of Mbombela will be interrupted from 07:00 to 17:00. “This is due to maintenance and emergency repairs on equipment,” it said. The only saving grace will be if the heavens open up, which is highly unlikely with the arrival of winter on June 1.

The department warned that customers in the following areas will be affected.

• Delta, water works and CBD
• Anderson substation and Ehmke Switching Station
• Steiltes
• No 2 Sub, Valencia and Orchards area
