Lowveld Media a winning team in Caxton

Lowveld Media shone once again at the annual Caxton Awards, which was held last Thursday evening at the Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria.

MBOMBELA – Lowvelder’s Tereasa Dias and Arisa Janse van Rensburg were named the multimedia journalist and most promising journalist of the year, respectively.

The judges noted that Dias had an excellent winning portfolio, which showed her versatility.

The judges said they were in awe of Janse van Rensburg’s winning portfolio.

Dias was also nominated in the category Impact Story of the Year for her coverage of Hetta Potgieter’s murder.

Geraldine Reyneke of Lowveld Media was named the ad designer of the year. The judges noted that her portfolio stunned them, with every advert adjusted to its targeted audience.

She won for “Twice as nice” in White River Post, but was also nominated for “Have a hot one this winter” in Corridor Gazette.

Jonothan Hen-Boisen of Lowvelder won the best written and designed advertorial or promotion with “Why an educational playschool is important for early childhood development“.

He was also nominated for “Unlock a world of online shopping with Aramex Global Shopper”, “Get rewarded for getting fit this summer” and “Join the opulence of upmarket living at Klapperkruin”. The judges remarked that Hen-Boisen really excelled with his many excellent entries.

Other nominees from the Lowveld Media stable abounded.

Lowvelder (with editor De Wet Potgieter) was among the top five contenders for best sold newspaper and was nominated for best front page.

Get it Lowveld (with editor Mellissa Bushby) was nominated for best magazine.

Mpumalanga News‘ schools pages with Matthys Ferreira and Lowvelder’s Blessing Creche project with Julia Burger, Colletha Noppé and Bridget Mpande were nominated for its community involvement.

Reyneke was nominated for best written and designed large advertisement with “Look me in the eyes and tell me I don’t count” in Get it Lowveld, as was Niël Henning with “The perfect venue for him and her” in the Mpumalanga Venue Guide and Hannelie Jansen van Rensburg with “Make every day feel like a Friday” in Barberton Times.

Christopher van der Merwe was nominated for best written and designed small advertisement with “Leave it to the professionals”.

Henning, Roché Esterhuizen and Danell Watts were nominated for “Premium BIZ-nesses” in the Classified advertisement feature category.

Henning and Charmaine Schönborn’s Barberton Dorp van die Jaar received a nod for non-editorial advertisement feature.

Lowveld Media’s Puma booklet with Lizelle Francis and the newspaper bellyband school project with Schönborn were also nominated as best original idea or innovations.
