BREAKING: Smelter and municipality join hands to fix crater

Restoration will last from 08:00 till 16:00 today (Wednesday).

LYDENBURG – As part of the Mandela Day celebrations, the huge pothole at the corner of Viljoen and Voortrekker Street will be repaired.

Glencore Lydenburg smelter in partnership with Thaba Chweu Local Municipality (TCLM)  is partaking in a joint Madiba day global initiative to reflect on the legacy of Mandela by cementing a culture of volunteerism.

The key focus of the initiative will be road patching wherein the long stretched potholes in Voortrekker and Viljoen Street will be fully fixed.

According to Louis van Rhyn of the smelter, this is a temporary repair that will at least bring some relief for the time being.

The road will be partly closed for eight hours while repairs are taking place. Motorists are urged to use alternative routes will repair are taking place.

Restoration will last from 08:00 till 16:00 today (Wednesday).
