Barcelona and Status in fight for death
Barcelona 2022 Football Academy coach, Lungelo "Mambush" Mokone believes that the Umjindi Local Football Association (ULFA) League is a two-title race.
Mokone, whose side is leading the league with a mere point over FC Status, said he is surprised by his side’s form.
“This team is only two years old. Never in my dreams could I have imagined that we would be title contenders so soon. It came so early for us to challenge the honours. The ideal for us is to see this team achieve its dream of producing at least 11 players that are participating at professional level by 2022,” said Mokone.
Over the weekend, Barcelona 2022 Academy beat Sparanza FC 4-1. Status beat Liverpool 5-0.
Barcelona 2022 Academy currently leads the league with 44 points after 16 games.

Fourteen teams participate in the league. FC Status follows with 43 points after the same number of games.
Both teams are left with 12 games to play.
Mokone said that as much as they want to be crowned champions, their future looks bleak.
“I’m unemployed. My dream is to see myself at highest level. I took these kids from the streets and groomed them to be what they are today. This kit that we are currently using was a lucky from Kick-Off magazine in 2016.
“We want to compete at the highest level in future, but financially, we are not stable. We are still looking for good Samaritans to come on board and assist us,” added Mokone.
