Mrs Mpumalanga teaches Pro Gratia learners about good hygiene habits

The talk was conducted in one of the classrooms.

MBOMBELA – The girls of Pro Gratia Learning Centre were treated to a talk on personal hygiene by the reigning Mrs Mpumalanga last week.

Bianca Rennison was accompanied by current finalists; Jenè Smit, Benika Khambule, Doreen Mdhluli, Christie Dos Sandos and Mash Mokgatle; to talk to the girls.

The learning centre is an educational facility which is equipped to cater for learners with special needs. In her talk, Rennison dealt with a number of topics; including the importance of showering every day, using deodorant or antiperspirant daily, wearing clean clothes, washing hair when necessary, trimming one’s nails, frequently washing one’s hands, having good dental hygiene, replacing one’s toothbrush every three months, and drinking enough water daily.

At the end of the talk some of the learners got to share what they had learned with their peers. The Miss Mpumalanga finalists then distributed sanitary packages to all the learners, which included a facecloth, soap, toothpaste and roll-on deodorant.

Rennison told Lowvelder that it was important to her to help others. “As Mrs Mpumalanga, I feel that it is important to give back to the community. I chose Pro Gratia to raise more awareness for the school, which is desperately in need of more funds.”

As the school is an NGO it relies heavily on the support and donations from the community.
