Another four lions escape from KNP
SANParks would like to reiterate that residents should be extra vigilant and report any sightings of these dangerous predators to the authorities on 0800 10111.
KRUGERPARK – Another four lions have escaped from the Kruger National Park yesterday morning. According to SANParks, it has received information that four male lions, believed to have escaped from the Kruger National Park (KNP) on 9 July 2017, were spotted at Matsulu, a village outside the Park.
SANParks would like to urge the residents to exercise extra caution. Matsulu is about 40 kilometres east of Nelspruit.
“KNP Rangers and their counterparts at the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) are in the area searching for the lions and we will give details as soon as they have appraised us”, said KNP’s spokesperson, William Mabasa.

In May this year, five male lions also escaped from the park near Komatipoort. Four of the lions were captured and returned to the park. The fifth, however, was never found and presumably went back to the park on its own.
Further updates will follow until all the lions have been successfully captured.
