Officer proves dog’s best friend

A Hi-Tech Security Nelspruit officer came to the rescue of a dog on Saturday. According to Hi-Tech Nelspruit security operations manager Mr Callum MacPherson, the incident happened in Kremetart Street near Lowveld High school.

He said their officer, Mr Willem van der Westhuizen, was at the standoff point close to the area, when he heard the dog crying. “He went to look for her through some bushveld, and discovered her stuck with her neck in a snare,” he said.

MacPherson said Van der Westhuizen undid the wires and freed the dog. “He then returned her safely to her home.”

MacPherson said this was not the first time van der Westhuizen had rescued a dog. This officer also had rescued a dog in the Cairn area last month.
