Vote for change, vote DA

Minnaar urged voters to make the right choice and vote for the DA as it implements its policies where it rules and also takes responsibility for its actions.

Umjindi’s DA Cllr Philip Minnaar said the party today, in terms of its support base, is probably the most multiracial that South Africa has ever known at a recent campaign meeting in Emjindini.

“The DA in Umjindi is at work and we have been fighting in your local council to ensure that vulnerable members of the municipality are supported regularly with food and blankets. We are also making sure that public hospitals and clinics are delivering health-care services by appointing a clinic committee that oversees all complaints and suggestions received and resolved by the Department of Health,” said Minnaar.

He expanded on the role of the DA in Umjindi as far as service delivery is concerned as well as bringing to the municipalities’ attention whenever there are sewage spills or water leaks and ensuring these are speedily dealt with.

“The DA has also stopped illegal practices by the municipality – such as the illegal auction of the 50 municipal-owned apartments in Barberton, of which approximately 90 per cent were meant for pensioners or indigents,” he said.

As far as the amalgamation of Umjindi and Mbombela goes, Minnaar said the DA did everything in its power to prevent this. “Unfortunately we are now part of the new City of Mbombela and the DA’s biggest challenge would be to ensure that all residents of the new municipality are treated with dignity and respect.”

He said above all the party will ensure freedom, fairness and opportunity for all the residents in the municipality. “We will also stand firm to ensure that Umjindi continues to be in the same but preferably in a better situation with regard to service delivery and development potential and therefore ensuring the economic upliftment of its residents,”

He urged voters to make the right choice and vote for the DA as it implements its policies where it rules and also takes responsibility for its actions.

“Your vote will determine what kind of community, what kind of Umjindi Local Municipality, and what kind of country your children will grow up in. You owe it to them to be absolutely sure about where you intend to put your X on that paper. Vote DA, which has the best track record of delivery where it governs.”
