A colourful show of solidarity

LYDENBURG – The local CANSA branch held its annual Shavathon at various shopping centres last Saturday.

CANSA Shavathon is one of South Africa’s most-loved events in support of a very worthy cause; to show solidarity with those affected by cancer by shaving or spraying heads, buying a CANSA head bandana/wrap or donating a ponytail. Losing one’s hair is a common side effect of the treatment. The money raised on such a day goes towards funding the care and support programmes CANSA offers.

According to the chairman of the Lydenburg branch, Isobel Janse van Rensburg, the local branch appreciates the support they received from local residents. “We are grateful to everyone who played a role during the event and to our sponsors who made it possible for the day to be a success. We managed to raise R7 780,” she said.
