Walk for women’s cancer

Lydenburg CANSA will host a Pink Walk on October 10 at 09:00. This colour symbolises a new life.

LYDENBURG – As part of raising awareness for breast cancer, the trees along Viljoen Street were wrapped in a bright pink material on Wednesday October 7. Lydenburg CANSA will host a Pink Walk on October 10 at 09:00. This colour symbolises a new life.

The entrance fee is R50 per person and it includes a light meal. The special walk will start at Longtom SPAR and ends at NG Kerk Suid. The project aims to reach out to those affected by the disease and to raise funds to fight it.

The nationwide project of covering trees in pink fabric was started in 2012 by Carol-Ann van Jaarsveld, (she lost both her grandmothers to cancer) and breast-cancer survivor, Adri van Niewenhuizen, together with Dr Pam Ker, an educational psychologist.
