Lego blocks develop young enquiring minds

BURGERSFORT – The majority of learners at Calvin College’s preparatory school prefer careers in engineering, mechanic and architectural work.

This was evident when the children participated in a Lego-based workshop led by the Junior Engineers for South Africa (Jefa) on August 24.

An educator at Calvin College, Ms Zane Neizel said the initiative was a success, “We saw our kids interpreting and applying concepts by building their own models. Most of the kids enjoyed building houses, halls and designing cars,” she said.

She added that the initiative also developed the character, concentration and creativity of learners by exposing them to practical affordable and technology principles, robotics and challenging programmes. The workshop lasted for two days.
