MANGWENI – Last Friday over 30 female police officers from six stations dedicated their time to cooking and cleaning for the 209 learners of Silindokuhle Special School in Mangweni.

Police stations that formed part of the team included Tonga, Schoemansdal, Mbuzini, Malelane, Komatipoort and Kaapmuiden.

The women and men in blue contributed towards this event and this money was used to buy groceries to prepare a decent meal for the children.

Tonga cluster commander, Brig Lizzy Mtungwa, said the project was part of the Women’s Month operation they as female police officers annually conducted.

Mtungwa explained they wanted to show their love to the children. Some of them were from far and they only saw their parents during school holidays.

Siyabonga Motsa, a 11-year-old deaf boy expressed his gratitude through his teacher, Sibongile Zitha, who was translating in sign language for him, “At first when I saw police cars I thought there is trouble in paradise,” said Motsa while enjoying his meal.

He was grateful for the meal which was prepared and served to them by the police.
