BURGERSFORT- The dog that was ran over by a car two months ago has found a place to call home.
Named Lucky by Steelburger/Lydenburg News staff, one of the journalists decided to adopt him.
The Good Samaritan, Chane van der Merwe said Lucky”s suffering pained her, “I saw how well he behaved, I felt for him and I took a decision to take him home, it was not an easy decision as I had other pets at home,” she said.
“Animals deserve to be treated better, most of them cannot be helped, that’s the reason why I adopted him,” she added.
According to Van der Merwe, the dog has recovered from its wounds. “He is still limping but he will get better with time.”
Lucky was knocked down by an unknown motorist in the parking lot of the Printex building on March 16.
He was treated at the Thaba Phala animal clinic before he was adopted by Van der Merwe. His veterinary expenses were paid by Suzan Pretorius of SupaQuick who donated funds for the treatment.Van der Merwe would like to thank Thaba Phala animal clinic for their assistance in Lucky’s medical care. “They truly did an amazing job. He sustained serious injuries butthanks to their quick response and medical care, he received a second chance.”
