Mystery of the headless croc deepens

Some bizarre findings in ongoing investigation into headless crocodile mystery

MARLOTH PARK – There have been some bizarre findings in the ongoing investigation into the headless Nile crocodile that was dumped in a rubbish bin.

Spokesman for the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA), Ms Kholofelo Nkambule told Lowvelder, “It looks as if a chainsaw was used in cutting off the crocodile’s head. There are no tooth marks of any animal.”

It has also been concluded that a reason for this beheading was not for traditional medicinal purposes, as the tail and the feet were untouched.

The team of the MTPA, led by Ms Lindiwe Phiri, principal nature conservator, is investigating the case since the Nile crocodile is a protected species.
“At the moment there are no suspects. The footage from the CCTV cameras at the shopping centre shows no evidence nor any malicious activity,” Nkambule added.
She added that the MTPA team was working closely with the Nkomazi Municipal Rangers based in Marloth Park.
