The Face of Riverside – celebrating beauty while fighting crime

A corporate challenge has been added to this year's competition. The crowning of The Face of Riverside was just the start of a huge crime prevention campaign. Will your business accept the challenge and join in on the fun?

MBOMBELA – The Face of Riverside for a Cause took place on Sunday, taking the annual Face of Riverside to a whole new level by adding an ambassador category to the initiative and launching a corporate challenge at the event.

“The Face of Riverside started in 2012 and has offered a platform for local talent, from which they can gain exposure,” RiversideMall’s marketing manager Tanya Cruse explained. “This season we have combined the event with a cause. An ambassador category encouraged entrants to sell raffle tickets to raise funds toward Bossie’s Community Justice (BCJ).”  Master Models’ Mark Patterson was the presenter of this fun day and contributes, among others, by presenting the corporate challenges.

On Sunday it was announced that Ashlee Blom sold a total of 72 tickets, making her the official ambassador of the Unite for a Cause campaign. A total of R24 000 was raised with the ticket sales. The launch of an all-new corporate challenge offered great entertainment.

The Riverside Mall management team took to the stage for the first challenge. “Can you raise one of your eyebrows?” the card read. A video of the management team attempting to do this can be viewed online at www.lowvelder.co.za A donation of R500 was made toward BCJ and they challenged any business owners in the crowd also to partake in the corporate challenge.

Isikhumbuzo Funeral Services, Casambo Lodge and Risingsunstrawberries were great sports and took part, attempting to lick their own elbows and do the splits. These shinanigans were also caught on video and can be viewed on our website. The corporate challenge will continue for three weeks, during which all businesses are challenged to contact Riverside Mall or Lowvelder which will provide them with a challenge.

The execution of the latter will be captured on video and uploaded onto this publication’s website. If the challenge cannot be successfully completed by all members of management, a donation must be made to BCJ.

Not only will those who partake have tons of fun and contribute to financially securing the community’s safety but there are substantial marketing perks attached to getting involved in this corporate challenge. The winners of the Face of Riverside competition will appear on a billboard on the R40 along with the branding of the company which donates the most money toward the cause. There are various other branding opportunities available for those who donate.
